The Fresh Fusion of Green Tiles.
“As a dedicated craftsperson, I’ve spent years fostering my designs. My handmade tiles are a deep reflection of who I am as an artist and, recently, I’ve been finding myself in a green utopia.” – Catherine Carroll.
There’s something so impactful, nurturing, and vibrant about the green effect. In the psychology of design, it’s said that stability and growth stem from green hues, while renewal and abundance are other feelings evoked. This is what creates a fusion, a blending of comforts incorporated in my green tiles, in the first place.
My green tiles never stop growing!
As you can see, they’re like little lucky charms which I’m even more drawn to, coincidentally, because of my Irish background. Black Rock Studio is named after my father, born on Black Rock Road in Bantry Cork, Southern Ireland! With this in mind, from a daughter’s perspective, these tiles have a rich history to me. Now, I’m manifesting them into a greener future.
The small flower detail adds a unique flair to this architectural moulding.
These emerald green tiles have been in high demand with clients such as Scaddabush Italian Kitchen & Bar, which feature my designs at their Marine Parade Drive location in Mimico and upcoming Oakville and Burlington locations. The freshness of the color matches the ambience in their fresh eatery.
Customers are welcomed by my emerald green tiles that provide a vibrant backdrop to the Scaddabush signage.

An emerald green pillar of my tiles grows tall inside Scaddabush.
Another stroke of luck hit when The Goodman Pub & Kitchen on Queens Quay wanted my fresh greens. Priding themselves on blending contemporary with traditional, my emerald green tiles were the fusion they were looking for to harmonize their interior.
My green tiles are a focal point of color fixation inside The Goodman Pub & Kitchen.
Not limiting myself to just commercial work, my tiles in a rich hunter green are being laid out in the kitchen of Johan Renck’s beautiful brownstone Brooklyn home. Artists like him admire the jagged, raw edge of the tile design while I strive for ultimate perfection in detail. The green look is adaptable in residential situations, where homemakers value the depth these tiles add to their living space.
I’ve spent a great many years understanding the principles in tile making simplicity and I will simply say:
Go Green.
